Term 3 week 6 Home Section page 1 Elderly Falling Prey to 'Volunteer' Ruse (trick) 1a) What is the modus operandi (method of operating) of the con artists? The con artists will lied to the senior citizens that they were from a welfare organisation on doing a project and they will steal their valuables things in the house. b) What are the Lion Befrienders planning to do to ensure the old folks do not get conned again? They alerted everyone about the case so that there will be no more victims. 2) Do you like doing social work? Why or why not? Yes,i do like doing social work as this give me the upportunity to help those who in need.By doing social work,i can do different things that i have never done before and it could be my only and memorable experienced.Sometimes,when we do social work and helping others,it will make them happy and i feel proud of what i have done. Term 3 week 5 In Section page 3 A Deadly Business 1.(a) What are the 2 worrying trends about drug trafficking mentioned in the article? More Singaporeans are now arrested for drug trafficking and childrens below 14 years old were already arrested too for drug trafficking. (b) Why are Singaporeans increasingly being used as "drug mules"? Singaporeans were used as "drug mules" as singaporeans usually does not do drug trafficking as they knew how serious it will be if you were arrested for drug trafficking and it could even affect the rest of you life. 2. What will you do if you find out that one of your friends is selling drugs? How will you react if someone tries to sell you drugs? I will advice my friend to stop selling drugs and told him the consequences if he/she were arrested.If he still refused to follow my advice,i will tell a teacher for his own good sake allthough i might lead myself into trouble.I will walk away and told the person that i am meeting someone else.I will then report to the police after that so that there will be no other victim after me. Term 3 week 4 Home Section Page 1 Hawkers fall prey to brazen break-ins. 1.(a) Why is it easy for burglers to break into stalls at the two markets in the Kallang area? The rooftop of the stalls were wide open and there is no walls to cover each of the stalls.That is why burglers having an easy job breaking into stalls by just getting up on the pipes and metal bars and climb up over the stalls. (b) What is the Geylang East Central Merchants' Association going to do about the break-ins? They are going to made changes on the design of the stalls and improve it so that break-ins will not happened anymore. 2. What do you think should be done to tighten the security of the markets? What do you think of the burglars who brazenly break into the stalls? I think by putting up hidden cameras,it will tighten the security markers.This will be easy to captured the culprit if a break-in happen again.The burglars probably in desperate of money and the stalls without rooftops have attract the attention of the burglars.The burglars should be more responsible and find a good job for money and not doing a bad crime that can lead them to jails. Term 3 week 3 In Section Page 8 3 Cheers for the Team 1.(a) Why is cheerleading an expensive sport? Cheerleading is an expensive sport as their materials cost so much money.The pom-poms cost 50-70 dollars for 0nly a pair and they were imported from taiwan.The costumes also need at least 100-400 dollars for only one costume.When there is competition,they will need to buy hair product that cost 50dollars for a team.Besides that,they also need to pay for the gymnastic lessons and workshops that cost 50dollar per person.Medical insurance,vitamins and nutritional supplements have to be ready.Medical insurance cost 30-100 dollars while the supplements cost 50-130 dollars. (b) What makes cheerleading such a tough sport? Being a cheerleader is not a easy sport as the person have to be physically fit as there will be different kinds of wonderful stunts that have to be done.Cheerleading also needs hours and weeks of practicing and they need to endure the sweat and pain that could even cause them to cry.So,cheerleading is really a tough sport. 2.What is your opinion of cheerleaders? If given a chance, would you join cheerleading? Why/ why not? I think cheerleading is a great sport where many people enjoy watching.A cheerleading job is to come up with wonderful and never seen stunts and they even cheer if there were competitions happening.Being a cheerleader is also not easy as they have to go through so many challenges and even risk their life.Anything could happen when doing cheerleading.if i was given a chance,i will not join cheerleading as it is not the sport i love to be in.Being a cheerleader is challenging and i am not ready to go through it. 1)What are some of the problems involved in separating a conjoined twin? Some problems in separating a conjoined twin is that it has high possibilities leading to death.Complications and fatal problems could also happened during the separation.The separation of a conjoined twin also can lead one of the person with very serious brain damage or excessive blood loss. 2)If you were a part of a conjoined twin, would you rather stay together with your twin for the rest of your life or would you risk both your lives to go for an operation? Why? I would prefer staying together with my twin for the rest of my life if i would happened to be a part of conjoined twin.Life is so precious.It is also no used if we were separated but one of us is still in the danger zone.Sometimes living together as a conjoined together is a good thing as we can be so closed and never will be separated.I would also be grateful to live with my twin.
1)What are big companies doing in order to be more socially responsible? Singtel have their own energy programme to reduce their bussines cost and in this way more customers would join their environmental efforts.Example is by using their paperless billing system.DBS in other ways helped childrens to reach their own full potential of learning and make a difference in the childrens lives.Mcdonalds also does not orders food like beefs that came from rainforest lands. 2)How important it is to be socially responsible? And do you think it is still possible to make a social impact during the recession? It is so important as it make much more difference in peoples live.It helps the people to have good habits and values and change to a more responsible persons.It is still possible to make a social impact if the people is willing to work together and reach out the possibilities. straits time
1)What are some of the things that schools in Singapore are doing in order to take care of the environment? Some school are ask to bring their electric bills from home to track their monthly bills and they would be teach on how to save energy.Some school also teach their student about the changes of climate and energy conservation.Another school,Elias park primary school contribute fruit peels to the school compost bins which would convert waste food into fertilizers.Commonwealth Secondary school has their own wetland and the students would test how clean the treated water is and study the wetland's plant and animals.The lower secondary students from Marsiling Secondary School do experiments on energy in their school while Nanyang Girls High School do not allow cardboard takeway boxes in school and the student were asked to bring their own boxes from home. 2)Do you think one person's effort in reducing, reusing and recycling will make a difference in saving the environment? What steps have you taken in the effort to save the earth? No,one person's effort in helping to save the environment would not make a difference.It need more than one persons or maybe a millions person to make a difference to the world.I have been helping by switch of all lights and fans when not in used in school and at home.I always through my waste paper in the recycling box provided for us.I also used my paper wisely and not waste it,example is that i used the front and back of the paper.At home,i used fans instead of air-conditioner and of computers and televisyen when i'm not using it anymore.
